are folded horn cabs.

Recommended bass reflex type enclosure is 500L to 800L volume. tuned "Fb" to 16Hz

With an XMax of 2.3 mm it's not going to be slamming any dance halls but I believe that some people use these in component speaker systems for HiFi listening rooms. Personally, I think this is more of a "My woofer is bigger than your woofer" type of thing.

AFAIK JBL has never made a woofer larger than 18"

I had the opportunity on an outdoor gig a few years back to use the Accugroove Whappo Grande, their 21". Used it along with my Accugroove Tri-112. Really enjoyed it, also a great foot massage!

Accugroove makes one. I believe it's the Whappo Grande. Pricey though.

I had a pair of 24" speakers. The box they came from was a folded horn about 5'x5'x2'. Why were they removed? One word - guitarists.

I ended up selling them, since I would have had to build another huge box. From what I've learned, bigger radius was sought as a means of increasing volumetric displacement, but now that speakers have a larger range of motion, the weakness of a larger cone can be avoided. I'm guessing the awesome 21" had a guitar cab sound pushing hard in the mids -- not the barely audible rumble of a low frequency sub.

Can you imagine a 4x21" or a 4X31" cab for BASS???? That might move an ounce or two of air. Maybe a Spinal Tap signature model

It would probably come with a big yellow warning sticker with a huge picture of a magnet on it. "Warning! May attract cars and small buses"

The Beyma 21L50 is most likely the driver installed in the Accugroove.

To get the most from this driver design, it requires 10.4 to 15.3 cubic feet, internal volume.
In the Flat alignment (15.3 cu.ft), the box is 47Hx26Wx24D inches, internal measurements.
Baffle is recessed 1.0" and all material is 1/2" baltic birch

F3 is 29~34 Hz.
Build as a simple slot port on the cabinet bottom.
The slot depth is 4.0" and slot height is 2.4"

The Whappo Grande is 8.4 cubic feet, external volume, even smaller on the inside. A too-small box reduces the bass extension.

OP, do you play below 41 Hz (low E)?
If not, this big box is a waste of pack space.

This exists - and is quite expensive.

The Bag End Bassault is a 4' cube with 4 21s, handles 3200 watts and can reach 8 Hz (purportedly) with standard bass extension to 16 Hz without breaking a sweat. I've heard this cab and it is awesome.

I've waited to weigh in on this thread because the Bag End site has been unavailable to me, but they have several 21" sub offerings that realistically get you down below 40 Hz in a controlled manner.

As for 21" drivers, I am intrigued by the B&C 21SW150 - nice Xmax, 4 ohms, and reasonably sensitive for a large speaker. VERY expensive.
