Who's using a Hartke LH500?

I have one and play it through diy 15/6 cab (not fearful).
It's one serious piece of equipment avilable at bargain price. Has that great tubey/bassman tone but without breakup. It's plug and play kind of amp, massive tone right away. Passive eq is useable but to adjust the tone to different rooms its not bad to have some sort of additional external eq-ing, eq pedal or something.

I've got one paired with an Ampeg 1x15 cab I already owned, sounds ok but not great.
Good head that gets fairly loud and Larry Hartke stands behind them. Good customer service.
Mids are scooped with Bass Mid & Treble at 12:00. Sound is pretty transparent.
Wish it had a headphone input for practice though. This thing will rattle the windows (and wife, neighbors, etc.)
Hope this makes some sense for you.

Actually to set eq close to flat try bass 2, mid 10, treble 2.

I have one paired with a carvin br115 with a 600w 4ohm cab so I can take advantage of the full 500w.i was playing it through a acoustic 301 cab that was overkill.nice simple amp with plenty of power.replaced the tube with a jj gold pin long plate to handle the bass better.tubedepot.com,they have every tube under the sun.

Did the tube make a difference?

yes, it gave it a more tube-like sound compared to the stock one.i noticed you have a ric.i also have one. a 1985 fretless that is blue with black binding and black hardware. with black tapewound flats it looks great.

Man that RIC sounds beautiful. Was the OE tube a Sovtec??

FWIW, I have the Hartke LH1000 which is basically 2 LH500's stuck together. I love this Head. I have it paired with my Avatar Cabs. B215 & B210 Neo's. It can be heard in any mix with the volume hardly cranked. I usually don't get above 2. I love Hartke gear, Its Bang for the Buck city!

I have one. I use it with an acoustic b810. It sounds exactly how I would want my amp to sound most of the time. I also love the overdriven sound you can get if you turn the liter off and crank the volume all the way up! Too bad it is much too loud to be used that way! I usually have the mids about 8 the bass about and the treble about 5 with the bright switch on.

Here's a short video of it being used in a band context.

yes the stock tube was a sovtek.on the tubedepot website the new tube is the JJECC803s/HI-PERFORMANCE 12AX7 GOLD PIN PREAMP VACUUM TUBE. $24.95.
While we are talking about preamp tubes, anyone out there know about different manufacturers of these tubes and how they can change your tone?, I would like it just a little bit deeper? any suggestions?

Dose a LH 1000 count? I've had mine for a couple years and have no complaints. Our guitar player, runs a 1974 Marshall Super Lead full stack, just said I was too loud. This happened on Monday at rehearsal. Wish I had it on tape. Although I am playing through 4x15"s. Two EV TL606 with 15Ls and two JBL Cabaret 4625B with E140s. I've pretty much always ran my ADA MB-1 pre amp in front of it and it sounds great. Even though the first one I received let out the magic smoke the first time it was turned on, this on has been flawless. I would buy it again. This thing really come to life around 6-7 on the volume pot, it's amazing how punchy it can get with 4x15"s

This pic has my guitar rig in it also. The rack on the right goes to the guitar rig. Since I been playing bass full time now it hardly ever gets turned on.
