Whos yout favorite vocalist?

I have several:

The ones I aspire to sound like:
David Sylvian
Bryan Ferry
Jim Morrison

Great classic rock voices:
Greg Lake
Peter Cetera
Steve Perry

Great roots rock 'n' roll voices:
John Fogerty
Burton Cummings
John Kay

Pop
Sade
Seal

But I don't listen to much classic or roots rock anymore. So I would have to say David Sylvian...

The one that tears it up for me is Otis Redding.
His performance recorded on film at Monterey Pop Festival
is just awe inspiring. One can only wonder at what he
would have achieved had he not died so tragically.

Marvin was unbelievable. I like Smokey as well.
Levi Stubbs in the early years.

Steve Marriott I liked in Humble Pie. Janis Joplin had her own
blues magic. Marty Balin of the Airplane had a great voice.

Joe Cocker. You don't have to guess who it is, it's Joe.
I always liked Lennon better than McCartney, but the three
together were magical.

John Baldry, great voice.

Stevie Wonder

I've still to hear one as talented vocalist that can express feelings of all kinds as well as he does. He sounds always very honest, and his able to express also happiness in his vocals without sounding even remotely silly (e.g. Isn't She Lovely) lifts him up on the first place on the podium. I haven't heard many vocalists that can do that as well as he does it. He's an incredibly talented composer, lyricist and instrumentalist as well.
I'd give that a big +1.

Roger Daltrey - by far all time fave
Paul McCartney
Paul Rodgers
Lou Gramm
Robert Palmer
Sting
Steve Miller

Dusty Springfield
Petula Clark
Aretha Franklin
Janis

Billie Holiday
King Pleasure
Eddie Jefferson

This thread is way overdue, I wish I had thought of it first.

For me, it's a pretty tight race between:

Brett Hestla, from The Devine/Virgos Merlot/Dark New Day. 'nuff said.
(early Creed) Scott Stapp. Yeah, he's a tool, but "My Own Prison" had great vocals, IMO.
(coincidentally enough) Myles Kennedy. He's actually that good live.
Simone Simons from Epica. Good lord.

Alison Krauss-Female. She has the most beautiful calming voice I have ever heard.
Les Claypool-Male. Just full of quirky silliness, nasally, and very dynamic. I just like it.

Of course I do not wish to sound like either, I just like listening to them.

Ahh of course how could i forget ozzy and paul mccartney

Ok then heres is my updated list (not in any special order)

Maynard James Kennan (Tool, APC)
Robert Smith (The Cure)
Chet Baker
Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance... dont burn me...:ninja:)
Ozzy Osbourne
Adrian Dargelos (Babasonicos)
Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth)
Paul McCartney
