Why all the Tal smack talk?

lol. Tal's playing blew my mind when I first heard it.

Then I saw a pic and though "oh, nice, she's hot, too." I was instantly jealous. Partly because I was newly single and she was unattainable (and half my age) and partly because she's 50x the bass player I am while I've been playing longer than she's been alive.

When talent, opportunity, and youth meet, look out.

She'll be 27 on 12/2/13. Yea, she's actually just good looking but that fact that she's such a good bass player makes her freakin' hott! Kinda' like Danica Patrick; good looking but being an Indy/NASCAR race car driver makes her freakin' hott!

12/2? That's Ozzy's birthday, as well as my oldest friend.

She has great time , a unique 'voice', inventive soloing, and great technique..

Id wager that any bassists taking time to down on someone with alot of great gigs and OBJECTIVE talent probably has less gigs than she . Hell, probably less gigs than I!

She's a solid player, but certainly nothing out of this world. She's cute, but not smokin' hot.
Pretty much sums up how I feel.

She's good but nothing incredible. Definitely solid enough to be able to hang with the people she gets to play with. Had great opportunities open up for her and she took 'em. She wouldn't have been able to get to where she is by just having a pretty face, but I bet it didn't hurt either.

This is such a silly thread. Who cares about her looks? Who cares if she's female? She can play, and that's the only thing that counts.

The bickering about her looks is exactly what is wrong with the music industry today.

Ironically, many bassists who are on this thread are still "shipping out on YouTube, doing covers". :)

She is a solid player. She plays with heavy hitters, well. It's quite sad that this discussion of her musical contributions came about in response such petty commentary. Sounds to me like people who have not accomplished their career goals need to a straw man to attack to protect their egos from asking why they are watching others play their dream gigs. Use the energy spent hating on her and other players and put it towards your craft. Them when you make it, people can use something irrelevant and out of your control as a scapegoat for their life's disappointments.

An interesting composition/song from
Wayne Krantz's ‎– Howie 61

Track 05 - "Son Of A Scientist"

Bass – Tal Wilkenfeld
Drums – Vinnie Colaiuta
Piano – John Beasley
Vocals – Gabriela Anders

It looks like Tal's cooperation with Vinnie Colaiuta expanded beyond Jeff Beck's tour.

She is getting stronger and more mature as a jazz musician/bass soloist.
Her bass reminded me a little bit of Marcus Miller's "Tales".

Marcus Miller - Forevermore.

I used to date Tal. She still has one of my sweaters I let her borrow.

LOL!
watching this thread for years here and there,
and that's my favorite comment now.
I'm sure she cut off the sleeves and the collar to make
it more comfortable by now!
there are those of us that wish the moon & the stars for Tal.
just because she sounds so good, AND she's fun to watch...
That's the stuff stars are made of.
