Why am I a sucker for basket case cabs?

Never used the 410 pro but the TVX was great too. Wasn't that front ported v the back ported TX? Peavey were clever in the early days in that they scooped out the mid mids and high mids giving the illusion of much deeper bass. Indestructible as well. Enjoy the cab. Good find.

Yes tvx was front ported and quite a bit deeper (not in sound)Tx rear ported.Pro has the double front port like the Eden cabs...tvx and pro both had tweeter protection tx didn't as far as I know. Crossover points and cab tuning did differ also.

Well it wasn't long before my lovely old man got stuck in with the old TX. Its still in the UK awaiting shipping. Grill and corners sanded and painted new removable casters fitted. New logo. Mounted a little high ;). All speakers soft brushed and vacuumed. Interior dried. Carpet restuck. Wildlife exterminated. All the speakers and tweeter check out..... Total spend 80 pounds Inc fuel money and elbow grease. Thanks dad biggest present under the tree for me when I come to collect at Christmas :) can't wait to relive my youth with this one.... Will feel like 91 again ;)

I’d be a little concerned about debugging it inside the house, let alone the bedroom.
They were woodlice not termites but they were exterminated in the shed before cab came in or so my dad says painting also of course..... he had instructions from me to keep it dry and not in shed. If a few visitors get itchy its worth it. It's been a while since he fixed something up for me we would have done it together back in the day. But will definitely put it to good use.....now I really have to many cabs ........;)

You think "it's so cheap, I can't pass it up". You forget that it's being sold for pocket change - maybe there is a reason.
In the UK and US these always go for peanuts. This was in bad shape so even less. I had a new one back in 91 and missed it since I sold it off. At 40 quid even if all the drivers are blown I can still replace these at get the matching stack back ;). I appreciate your concern but the risk was minimal as it turns out all the drivers check out and a part of the louse population that was living in it were successfully re -housed and are doing well. Cab belonged to a student and was getting in his parents way had a good discussion before purchasing so had a pretty good idea it could be a low cost resto.

Gave the van a quick Christmas Eve blast with the mini max all the speakers work but the top left one is visibly moving more than the other three? Wiring issue? Maybe blown. Will take a bit of puzzling. Tweeter also making a bit of a racket..... So think it will take a bit more love....

I had a Ampeg 810 that looked like garbage. I never had to stress out at load in/out. It was impossible to hurt my feelings as far as damaging the tolex.

It kinda made me laugh, loved that ugly thing. Drivers sounded great.

I have a thing for really damaged 810s and underpowered heads that nobody likes. Which in the end sounds pretty good

So I should get a beat but good 8x10 for my SWR Headlite then?;)

I would say why the hell not! You reminded me to update / close this thread. My once boat anchor now very tidy tx ( thanks dad) made it home. Indeed one blown speaker. Considering all my tx cabs got upgraded with faitals I imagine this 40 euro wonder will also get upcycled ;) any experience with the faital 10 PR 320 out there?
