Double Bass Why are all uprights so freaking expensive?

It appears that they have what I asked for, for about $200. Just not in the upright format (but horizontal).

That is a bass guitar, and not an upright bass.

Yeah, but I much prefer simplistic, like this one:

It's really not that different from an EUB, save for lower quality electronics. Would be a nice project, to install a piezo pickup on it, a bartolini or EMG pickup swap, an active/passive circuit, and it'll be $300 for the bass + 200 for extra hardware.

Neither of the examples you posted from Amazon are upright basses.

34" scale. Fretted boards. Can't be bowed. Zero workmanship involved.

my "cheap" Chinese plywood upright was still 2,000 with case, strings, pickup, and set up.
