I hate all the "Peavey amps (instrument, PA, etc.) are what damaged their rep" talk. Peavey was built on amps. Some may not have the tone I am looking for, but the VAST majority were built amazingly well. I still have a TKO 80 for practice, and a little pot cleaner is all it takes to get rid of the scratchiness. And the CS line of power amps were built a lot better and saw fewer failures than almost anything available at the time. PA sound? Try comparing the upper-end Peavey speakers, amps, mixers with comparable products from other brands, not bottom-end Peavey against mid to high-end JBL/EV, etc. Pull apart almost any Fender or Gibson product from the 80's and compare the build quality to anything Peavey...
