Why are old Peaveys so cheap?

Then slap me in a straitjacket and commit me!! IMO (and many other's) the Fury goes toe-to-toe with the MIA P basses fairly well, then when you consider the price you can get them at, I'll take the Peavey. The Fender has a little better tone, but not so much better to compel me to shell out more bread for it.

Are you serious? Are you just pointing the two basses are the same level because they look similar? (plus: Peavey took the design from Fender)

You are describing yourself as "more knowledgable" just because you told me "The bass is good, just make a set up"... Hilarius... Well, i tell you.. Buy an American P bass and see the difference between the P and an old cheap Peavey..

Ok... so clearly you don't know what you're talking about. You don't answer direct questions, and your comments have no substance at all. I'm sorry, but at this point I have to assume you're a troll.

I've enjoyed this thread (T-40 owner and soon to be Foundation owner). Seems like a minority are just fighting for the fun of fighting. If you're not a fan of Peavey basses, that's fine...there's plenty of threads to follow :)

Personally, I can't think of a more under valued bass out there as a USA Peavey. Fine by me...I still have a chance to get a few more :hyper:

The fighting starts when the Peavey fans try to convince the others (that dont like Peaveys) with his super intelligent answers and facts, like trying to impose the idea "A human being cant dislike a Peavey bass"...

I'll answer that question..

I've been playing bass for over 30 years. In that time I've owned over 60 basses. I've owned basses that cost less than $150 and custom Conklins that cost over $4,000. Among that number were two MIA Fender Precisions. They were great basses, no doubt. I currently own this Peavey Fury that I bought here on TB for $169.

So I can say, from 30 years of personal hands-on experience on the stage and in the studio, the Peavey is in EVERY way equal in sound, construction and playability to the MIA Fender P. Of the two dozen basses I currently own over half of them are Peavey basses. I have a good job and can buy pretty much anything I want. I play Peaveys not because "I can't afford a Fender" but because I choose to . They're great, world-class instruments.

Again, it's his OPINION, which is subjective. I just happen to agree...
