Why aren't there more kickback/wedge bass amps?

Not sure if it was all due to form factor or not, but I had a GK Backline 1-15 that someone gave me when they were moving. Super heavy and not that loud. I used it for a practice amp, but it was not gig worthy (for any gig) for sound, weight or power. It ended up scrapped.

I like the form factor but don't believe it is optimal for weight/volume/porting/sound (IMHO only)
 
A 40Hz wavelength is 8 metres / 28ft so angling the driver but keeping it at basically the same height does not change it's effective acoustic coupling to the floor.

Floor coupling or mechanical coupling is different than acoustic coupling and in general it results in an increased low end/boominess on stage. When you tilt the cab there's less contact w the floor thus less floor/mechanical coupling.

Yes, when you tilt the cab towards your ears you'll hear more of the high end because they are more directional, but that's a different story than what I wrote above.

My Fender Rumble 75 is ideal as a band practise amp and live small gigs combo with its beautiful kickback design.

I solved the limitation of floor level operation of my Acoustic B100c amp with a custom 'branded' riser I made to slip the amp's feet into.

It's easy to turn those knobs now! Pedals are off the floor too...

Total cost of scrap plywood, faux Tolex, heavy duty rubber feet and an Acoustic badge: $47.
