Why do I like the 810e?

Dang, that's an expensive cab for a Nemesis! Too bad it's ported and has more low end, otherwise it would be a near perfect replica.

It doesn't have more low end. That's the point. Most other 8x10's are either all mids ala Carvin or scooped big bottom ala the Mesa 8x10. The Nemesis has a slightly larger low end bloom; it's less tight in the lows, but it doesn't have more. That's verified with a tone generator, BTW.

You can pick them up used for VERY cheap if you don't mind the color. I paid $300 for mine a few years ago. (I defy ANYBODY to tell me that a baby blue 8x10 is any kind of phallic compensator- (in gruff voice) I've got a manly 8x10 cab... that's baby blue... The new ones are are gray, IIRC.

Correction: the NV610 sounds more true to the original SVT 8x10, which sounds loads better than the 810E.

When I saw clutch, the Murder by Death guy had SVT-4/810E setup, sounded boomy from where I sat (balcony).

Clutch's Dan Maines had a vintage SVT/8x10 setup that sounded light years better.

I am pretty sure Dan Maines does not play a vintage 810. Its just a 810 AV, same cab as the 810e but with the silver grill cloth. IIRC he was playing through an SVT VR while the guy from murder by death had a SS head, plus a hollow body bass, so you can't really compare the two.
