Bad Habit. Your frame of reference is simply different than mine. First off, I am probably a lot older than you. I saw on your website the list of bands you count as influences. I have to say, I personally don't like many of them. It sounds to me like you grew up playing "rock" in the 90's and those simply aren't the sounds I am talking about.

I disagree that you can get the same sounds out of most of the amps you have listed. I think we can end it at that.

Let see though, how many times have you called me ignorant? You have no idea about who I am at all. Because I have a difference in opinion, you claim I am ignorant?

An 'old guy' using the "my band is better than your band" bit? OK.

I'm a rock dork and I use an SWR SM-900, and I also use the old Seymour Duncan 300x300 heads. I like the idea of having assloads of power at my beck and call. I love the sound of my heads, and even though they're drastically different I manage to sound like my old rocker self using any of them. My back is also bad, and I appreciate not having to hoist up an SVT or a Sunn Colliseum or whatever. I don't believe "modeling" amps realisitically create the sounds they puport to, but I believe modern amps to be superior (for the most part) to the amps of "the good old days." From my experience, I'd rather take a mid to late 70's Marshall with a master volume over most any new guitar amp, BUT I'd take a newer (mid-late 80's and newer) bass amp over most any 'old' bass amp. I also think that better quality equipment is available at a lower price than has ever been available before- it's a blessing and a curse. The "cheap" amps are put together pretty good, and the "expensive" stuff is generally built good enough to justify the price. I think speakers are better than they used to be. I think the science and technology of sound is better today.

I don't think "Jazzers" or hippies or the KKK or League of Women Voters have ruined anything for "those of us that want to rock." It's not an "us against them" sort of thing. You can disagree with anything anyone says, but anything about tone is subjective.
