Why do people describe stuff as "minty?"

When we describe something as being in "Mint Condition," we are saying the condition is beyond reproach; minty is a shortened and colloquial version of mint condition.
It sounds like a wristwatch advertised as "never worn" but you know the guy just regretted buying it after wearing it a few times.
Originally dunked into a vat of Scope mouthwash. Minty fresh.

I believe that to be mintish. Mint julips are minty.
I suppose it’s better than “dead nuts mint”, a description I’ve seen more than once.
I believe it means the same thing as "perfecty".
When "mint condition" would be overstating things, but "excellent condition" doesn't seem to do it justice.... "minty" is a useful middle ground.

"Mint condition" is just like the word "Love"...both are used very inflationarily yet no one seems to know what they are talking about.
It means it's not mint, but the seller wants to charge as if it were.
