Only two strings away from an attitude problem.
I don't pretend people actually like me. They know I won't judge them and that I'm genuine and honest. Mostly though, I think they're just watching to see what I say or do next.
Most people like me because I am polite and will go maybe a step further for others (strangers or friends) than most people would. That gets me into some trouble sometimes.
People like me because I instigate the shenanigans.

I got told by a respected local musician that he notices a change in people's behaviour when I'm around...in that they start behaving themselves! I guess that shows a level of respect that I was really unaware of...as to whether they LIKE me, I reckon you should ask my friends that 
I don't know why. Do they? I guess some do. Huh. Not that I'm a bad guy or anything, but I'm as mystified as you are, really. God love 'em.

I don't know that they actually DO. I mean, I conduct myself fairly, honestly and without too much b.s. in my day to day, not up to me if people are receptive to it...
