Yeah. Was in an AIC tribute band. The 400+ had a few tube issues, but that got ironed out. I think SS holds the bottom better (in general) at really high volumes.
That band was freaking LOUD! I struggled all the time to get one decent tone so my options were limited.
The 400+ was a nice amp, but lacked the mojo the V-4 has, but then it was made in 1972!

I'm with ya there.....the low end certainly has a different character.
I've avoided tubes for that same reason.....until now.
Never know....I may just stick with the Ashdown....it's all in the results of the tone battle tonight.
