Why do you dig your Ashdown?

Yeah. Was in an AIC tribute band. The 400+ had a few tube issues, but that got ironed out. I think SS holds the bottom better (in general) at really high volumes.

That band was freaking LOUD! I struggled all the time to get one decent tone so my options were limited.

The 400+ was a nice amp, but lacked the mojo the V-4 has, but then it was made in 1972!

I'm with ya there.....the low end certainly has a different character.
I've avoided tubes for that same reason.....until now.
Never know....I may just stick with the Ashdown....it's all in the results of the tone battle tonight.

I love the warmth you get when used with a j bass it almost gives you a huge bassy cuddle, i am only using a 2009/2008 eleccy 180 12 inch but it sounds so beautiful and does a small gig fine. gosh it even made my peavy zodiac BXP sound in leauge with a MIM p bass through some cheap bheringer.

Not one problem in four+ years of heavy gigging two to three nights a week. I have owned Eden, Mesa, GK, Ashdown ABM... and this is the one I keep coming back to. Really hoping the Mibass works out.

I have an Ashdown MAT-410T plugged into my hartke ha2500, and it sounds t*ts. Bright and clear, deep and powerful. I'm planning on adding another 410T and more power soonish.

I'll go ahead and give a +1 to anyone who said they get loads of compliments on their tone. Even with the preamp tube disengaged on my ABM 500 EVO II, I get tons of compliments on my tone compared to the Ampeg Pro series head I used before.

my favorite parts of my Ashdown rig are the compliments I get on my tone after shows... usually coming from the other bands rocking their Ampegs.

i love the simplicity of the controls as well. also, the looks can't be beat. there's something about those blue speakers.

I loved my Ashdown, although I thought it sounded muddy. I thought it was down to my stock Squier strings (more dead than flats, probably) so I swapped them out for some DR Neons. My rig still sounds very muddy.

I'm seriously thinking about ditching Ashdown, or at least the MAG series. They are horribly unreliable, I'm not impressed with the sound.

I think they are on par with Behringer, although they don't copy people's designs. Unreliable, uninspiring, cheap, and readily available to beginners.

this is true of the MAG series, but the ABM and Classic series are completely different.
