Why do you own so many basses?

I would argue that i can do 75% of my job with just lineman pliers, a 6" flathead screwdriver and a razor knife. yet i still carry a fully stocked tool bag for the last 25%. so is it more important to you being able to do 75% of your job or 100%? i think thats the real question we should be asking.
a 10mm wrench is a 10mm wrench. Unless you have the Super Socket, you need one in your tool-kit.
Glad your neck adjustments get the plier/flathead/razor knife treatment, though.:roflmao:

My first (owned) bass was a Roytek Jazz-style.
When I considered to deserve an upgrade, I sold it (really - to a friend of a friend), and bought a Cort B4.
Then by chance I found a used Cort Masterpiece (AMBP-2) for few money, sold the B4 to the friend n.1 above (guitarist but attracted by bass).
Still only 1.
In the past I was building flying models - I like doing concrete things, far from my job. So at some point I built a bass (later helped by friend n.1). Pickup of choice was P, I did not have a comparison to check the sound, bought a used Harley Benton P (HTR) , resold after end of building.
So, temporarily 3, but really 2.
Then I decided I needed a couch bass. Small, etc. Ukulele Bass UK-BM1R Jack & Danny. 3 basses.
Then Covid. My main bass was still in reharsal room ... we started playing online with Jamulus... I had a neck bought on Ebay for 15€ plus some extras from previous build, so I built a body and voilà, 4 basses.
Then I got bored by the Cort Masterpiece and wanted a plain Precision (or almost plain). Found a used Sire P7. It's now the one I use more. However, I did not sell the Cort because it's too good. 5 basses.
The couch bass is useful to rehearse alone at home, but scale and sensation of an uku bass is too far from usual. I found a used Ibanez Mikro for a good price, which is now the official couch bass, while the uku is now in my office. 6 basses.
I was not building since 2020, free time is scarce, so some month ago I built a 2-strings WineBox Bass. 6.5 basses.
While building the WineBox bass, for some days it was without frets, and I got fascinated by fretless. So now I am looking around for a cheap fretless. Still on the fence...
