Why do you use Fender strings?

I've played both the new fender flats and chromes. IMO they are nothing alike in feel or sound. The Chromes are not my thing. To me they sounded hollow and felt sticky, and yes I left them on my bass long enough to "break them in" and still could'nt come around to them. Different strokes and all.

The fenders sounded great to my ear right out of the box. They sound just right to me on a Fender p-bass.

OP,... no offense, but if you don't like Fender strings then i just might question your experience level. i personally think they're top-notch for the normal reasons. their medium-lights are my 1st choice in that category!!!

they are very comfortable, long lasting, and very articulate. maybe the demo basses at stores may need fresh strings at purchase. if you're replacing them on a fresh out of the box bass,... send them to me! (i'll pay postage) :)
so, it's very subjective and your mileage definitely is varied.

EDIT: i must apologize to the OP about his experience level. i just scanned his profile and discovered that this dude is a self-proclaimed Fender-Hater!!!!

CASE CLOSED!!!!
(i can't stop lolz)

Thanks. Ya saved me some typing.

I'll add that string preferences are ridiculously subjective. The factors that go into whether someone likes or dislikes a string are many. Start with the sound someone prefers, the kind of bass they have, the action they prefer, the tension, the amp they use, their attack, their touch, their body chemisty, how often they play, how much they sweat, how well they take care of their strings, what kind of music they play, I could go on and on. To say any one particular string sucks or is way better than another is... well, draw your own conclusions.

Well said, Joe! That sums it up beautifully!

It just seems very strange that I've never seen anybody outside of this one forum that actually seeks out and buys Fender strings on purpose. I've been playing bass since 1993 and I didn't even know Fender sold strings until I came here. Maybe it's a geographical thing? Luckily for me, DR, Curt Mangan, and Dunlop strings are readily available.

Do you always hang around the string section of music stores?

Look, most shops have a selection of Fender strings for sale, I doubt they are there for decoration so someone must be buying them.

We get your point, you think Fender is crap and anyone who disagrees and is thus less enlightened than yourself is an idiot. Next!

You must be trolling.

Stop. You're embarrassing us fellow Bongo players.

I never said that. You Fender boys sure like to twist words.
It's not what you said, it's what you didn't say. You acknowledged a flip reply, but haven't done so for responses that don't jibe with your preconceived notions.

If honesty truly goes a long way with you, why don't you just admit you don't like Fender, rather than play the troll with semantics and passive-aggressive implications?
