Why does one need a Tech 21 Sansamp Bass Driver?

I use mine in addition to micing a low wattage amp (run through the BDDI's parallel output). That way I can run ridiculous pedals and distortion/fuzz, even delays and other effects that you woudn't usually run on bass, while still pushing a good fundamental bass tone through the PA. Though I'm planning on replacing my BDDI with a VT Bass DI soon. Even without the effects, my '67 Bassman would have no hope of cutting through the mix in a live situation, and most sound men won't mic a bass amp with a proper mic. So basically my low frequencies go through the BDDI, and my amp is miced with a 57 and is "treblier".

I think if I keep it, I'll probably exchange it for BDDI deluxe. Maybe a VT deluxe. A lot of guys seem to like those a bit better, and I can see that. I like the idea of the pre-programmable selections. Then I can have setting for my reflex's different modes as we'll as a killer sound set for my pbass. From what I've seen the vt deluxe has 2 inputs and different settings for each one too. I dig that idea!
