I got 70's heads but usually leave the mid switch set in the middle which I think is 800 Hz which I think corresponds to the middle position on the 5 position switches on the newer ones. I leave the tone knobs fairly flat only boosting or subtracting a tiny bit, I use P basses, Rics, Gibsons and 810 cabs. With a single 15" I usually boost the bottom but leave the mid on the middle position. Those rotary controls really change the response with a small change in position.

mim P Bass , Classic head and an 8 10e. Been running it on 3 last few times I used it. Was running on 4 for quite a while , tried 3 one night and liked it better.
Haven't run the SVT in a while. Been using my PF 500 and a 2 12av. I run the PF on 3 also. With the PF , I keep the ultra low on , which I never did with the SVT. Occasionally I will tweak the tone controls a little bit for room adjustments but I really haven't had to do that in quite a while.

The midrange knob setting determines how much cut or boost each selection is so that should be noted as well.

I'm in the minority so far at 4 with one other.

I'm using the SVP Pro preamp which is essentially the same preamp used in the SVT2 Pro. The midrange knob is at 2 o'clock for a gentle boost.

Other settings, Bass at 9:00, Treble 12:00, no ultra high/low buttons in and normally the graphic EQ is switched out.
