Why I love the Talk Bass forums so much.

The reason I keep posting and bugging you guys is, Cuz I can sit here at my computer and Rap and Jive with all you cool cats all night long without ever even touching my instruments. And I learn something new every time I do. A rare thing now a days to be sure. And BTW does anybody know if I can play the Bass in VR environment? Well Imma gonna try!

If it's '60s/'70s "rap," then it just means talk to someone, as in, "Lemme rap to ya for a minute." It can also mean specifically talking to a girl, hopefully to get a date!

I must admit that when I was a youngblood, I had no rap with girls! The ones who liked me actually liked me, not my non-existent smooth talk.

I have a dear friend about my age who grew up in the projects in Cleveland OH. He also describes the earliest origins of rap as a form of guys talking to girls in order to impress or get a date. My style was to stammer and mumble. That definitely led to less dates.
