Why is EBS OctaBass not more popular?

I loved my Octabass, it was fantastic both in terms of sound and how it tracked. However, I did read that EBS pedals have a tendency to suddenly die - which is exactly what happened, at the worst possible time. So, I've moved on to other things. I'd gladly use the Octabass again if I could trust it, but I can't deal with stuff that just quits on me like that.

There was a specific period where the EBS pedals had that issue. I'd been worried about mine for years, but somewhere there is a thread that tells you what to look for. I don't think newer ones have had that same issue. I'm fairly confident that mine falls into the category of "looks like the bad ones, but is from after they made the necessary change internally."
