why is it panned to the right :/

First of all I searched, i couldnt find anything.

okay, i have a mono insturment cable, and a stereo jack converter... its plugged into the line in of my computer right now. Whenever i play through headphones, its panned to the right, whenever i record, its panned to the right... solution?

Take the plug one notch out and You'll route the signal to the left channel.

Some sound cards don't like it when the input is shorted so there might be a bit static or distortion added to the open signal path also. No damage should be done though, just some noise.

Tip is Left, Ring is Right, Sleeve is common. You just have to go to any electronics store and get a converter. A mono female=> Stereo male converter. It's just a small jack that you plug you're patch chord into, and then into you're sound card.

Also, older computer screens tend to give off a lot of radio interference, as in, you're bass might pick up some noise from it if you are facing the bass towards it.

yeah i already have a converter, its a stereo converter though, and my bass cable is mono.

I tried taking it one notch out, its not working... btw i dont want to b*tch or anything but i just got a camera and i really want to record some vids of me playing and put them on youtube.

I bought a new better headphone and my playing was panned to the left, i did what t bird said and it worked

It's probably not a mono to stereo adapter. It's most likely just a stereo 1/4" to stereo 1/8" adapter. Or use an interface of some kind.

What software are you using. I've seen some default to stereo for all new tracks so a mono input will get put to one side. But usually after the track is laid down you can split it into two mono tracks and dump the empty track.

Or default to a single mono track. You may have to set it to record as a stereo track.

DWBass has it right. Your adapter is 1/4" stereo to 1/8" stereo. You will still need a 1/4" mono to 1/4" stereo adapter or you may even be able to find a 1/4" mono to 1/8" stereo adapter. I'm not sure if you live near a Radio Shack but they usually have adapters of all kinds.
