Why no 210 cabs for gallien Krueger?

I own a bunch of GK stuff... Don't preguess what the speaker dimension will sound like.

So true! Old wives tales are hard to kill. Maybe they were true back in the day? My old 115 GK was brighter than my 410 GK. No tweets in either, and never needed them, even for slapping.

Does seem to be true. 16 years ago, I bought my SWR WM12 combo with the 12" wedge extension cab. The 12s were rarely seen back then. Now they are everywhere.

+1 Yep....give the GK 2-12 cab's a whirl, you may find you don't need the 15'. I use a GK MB212-ii combo as my main rig, even large outdoor stages I have yet to push it beyond 25-30% of its capabilities

I almost purchased this combo, but picked up a used Markbass CMD121P because it was cheaper and smaller than a new MB212II. Left more budget for the Neo 212II cab. The Mark stacked on the GK cab is a 3x12" powerhouse that is really easy to tote.

Ive read postings by smaller cabinet designers here on TB that say, more or less, the price point vs performance of a 10 vs a 12 favors 12s.

My $.02 - I agree with another post that 12's are the new 10s! I personally had a pair of SWR 210 cabs and mostly used them stacked vertically, but on occasion, would take one out for a smaller gig and noticed after a while that the cones were creasing and that they would eventually fart out. I think a 115 cab is a much better single cab solution. Most 10s don't have enough excursion. Fast forward to now - I'm currently playing through several different setups, none including 10s anymore - I use a 212 for most gigs, a pair of 112s, or sometimes a pair of 115s. If I go with a single cab it's always the 212 lately and it's doing the job. That cab is from Greg's Pro Audio in Riverside CA loaded with the Faital 12s purchased at Avatar - those GB/Faital 12s he's been selling around $100 - good stuff!

I'd love to see a GK 210 MBP cab in their powered cab line-up for use with the 1x10, 2x10, or 4x10 MB combos. Currently they have 1x12, 2x12, and 1x15 powered cabs.

I have a 100W MB 110 combo, and it might be a really nice thing to put it on top of a 2x10 powered cab for a vertical 3x10 stack. Just sayin', GK...

I've been using a Neo 210 with an MB200 head as my main rig for years now. I just scaled down even more to a Markbass combo, but I'm considering keeping the Neo to bring out as an extension on bigger gigs. I really like the kickback feature on that cab.

I run a bi-amp setup. GK 410 (horn disabled) for lows powered by a MB500, and an MB115+MBP115 for highs. It works better that way because the 4x10 is definetly tuned lower.

I've mixed cabs in the past, had no issue at all and loved the tone.

Hunt down a 2nd hand neo 210 and pair it with a neo 115 - sounds huge - although i believe they were designed to be paired like this (crossovers etc)

Since 2012 yes. There was a G-K plant in China for a while where some cab were made but no longer. Bob Gallien moved all finished goods back to the US (even speaker production).

Just curious, is there any material or design difference with the US versions? I have a MB200 with the 115MBE cab, both made in China.

Shouldn't be. The factory in China was a G-K factory not a third party build house. Mr Gallien traveled there every quarter and there was usually someone there from the US plant when he wasn't. The people there were G-K employees.

Good to hear that, Thanks. That's what I had assumed would be the case when a smaller Company is still run by the man who started it. Even if the reason he brought it back to our shores was because he didn't like the long flights, I'm all for US manufactured products / jobs.

Also, couldn't be happier with th MB combination.

Good to know! I've been using 2 MBE 210's for 4-5 years, and they've treated me great.

The 210's were poor sellers. If the CX 210 doesn't sell well it will suffer the same fate. They (G-K) has one factory in California, no space left for units that don't sell. It is not like they have a couple third party houses stamping them out for them.

GK's 2x10 cabs are always the first to go in any given series. I feel fortunate to have 2-210RBH cabs in excellent shape. The 4 Ohm 4x10 cabs go next - as soon as the 16 Ohm 10" raw speaker stock runs out.

Yes, correct about the 115's. That's why I chose the 115. It has more mids then the rest. I like it because it's more balanced, YVMV.

This is why I always use a pair of my Acme B2 2x10s at any size gig. Better too much than too little and damage.

That's the thing my rbII 115 combo has great punchy deep low end but not much high end for funk and any time you need a more edgy tone. the thing is I want to add more treble to my combo without having to sell my combo and get a whole new rig. Adding the rbh115 cab will just make it louder and more bottom end but not tighter and brighter like a 210 would. I may check out the cx series cabs by GK.

As many others have pointed out, you shouldn't assume that 10" speakers will sound brighter or have less bottom end than 15's.

One thing that occurred to me was that maybe your combo has more mids and highs than you realize. If the combo is on the floor and you're standing right in front it, you'll hear the (omni-directional) lows just fine, but the (more directional) mids and highs will be blasting at your legs and you'll be the only person in the room who can't hear them. Do you use the tilt-back option so the speaker is pointing up at your ears? If not, try it and see if you don't notice a big difference.
