Here's the chart I made if you're interested. Not scientifically valid, but good enough for a ballpark:

Not trying to pry to hard or sound too argumentative, but where did you get those numbers? Mostly just asking because I'm looking at a chart without context. Are they sales numbers or results from a TB poll?

Those Destroyers actually have really nice necks. I have one on an 80s parts bass

BTW, if we're both thinking the same thing most of the time, that just means we're both nucking futs! :roflmao:
I love everything about that bass.

Argumentum ad populum.
In my experience most musos are sheep.
I've got to say, your conduct is silly in this thread. As a guy that's played and owned both fenders and ibanezes, they're both fine instruments. I guess this just makes me one of "them." :P

Used basses for sale on Reverb about a week ago. Selected by brand and decade. I didn't look at every item and there could be a mis-categorized item in there, but it's equally likely in any column / row. So, there are 80 used EBMM basses for sale built in the 2000's.

That's some creative thinking right there. The data isn't a hard census, but you also admit that.

Well this post struck a nerve.

Maybe someone already pointed out the meaning of the poll options, but here is my interpretation:

In the world, are there....ANY Ibanez basses (ANY meaning there must be a small number)
Or are there ...MANY Ibanez basses (many meaning...well you know what many means)

I think the Ibanez aesthetic for the most part is unappealing. The horns on the Soundgear basses probably have something to do with weight relief, but they just always looked weird and pointlessly misshapen. It is wonderful though that everyone gets to pick their favorite to wear and play.

Another thing to consider is that it is a pretty big world full of voices that might be underrepresented on this forum.

I don't mind Ibanez basses and own 1 (talman)
however I DESPISE SR models.
it doesn't matter what pickups or pre amp may be in it... I just HATE them with a passion.

horrendous (eye of the beholder) to look at, plain wood doesn't do it for me at all, I'm more a vintage fender colours kinda bloke.
I don't like how they sit on me, the skinny horns feel off balance.

I'm not fan of the skinny necks at all.

but the old ergodynes and ATK's I almost bought a few of those in my time, the new headless ones are nice too.

but sadly because the market is flooded with SR models we wont see much innovation, the talman has no high end model any more there are no new ATK so we are stuck with the endless model numbers of gibberish starting with SDG PMSL

I had a bias against Ibanez basses until I got my first one and now it makes me want to get another one. So that's pretty impressive. I really like the SR look and they really did things with these basses that you normally don't see. They offset like pickups like Warwick does, they offered so many different configurations and many price points. To me they did what all bass makers should which is offer lots of options. The trb and roadstar basses we're really cool too. And when they made thier version of Ric 4001 basses they were excellent. So don't knock it till you try a few and see.

I have a couple of dozen basses, of a variety of brands, and have owned a lot, maybe 120 or more others, and come back to my Ibanezes. There are 3, 2 SRs and a BTB that are my main players, so much so that I think the rest can go. Nah, I'll keep the SR806 for Church.

That's funny. I never see any innovation in Fender beyond a new colour or a ... well nothing. Anytime that they try something new the FSO fanbois reject it and it's culled quickly. In terms of construction, nothing at FMIC has changed in decades, and I get why, they sell. Ibanez at least took a punt with the EHBs, and though not made in large quantities are hard to get a hold of, same with the similar guitars.
