Why pick on bone players?

Some ( not all) Trombonists ( tromboner?) deserve to be bashed. I work with a lot of freelance players and some are as true to the stereotype as can be. I work with a big band that has a steady stream of them coming in and out and its always amusing. One brought his tuxedo to the gig in a plastic grocery bag. One who will remain nameless* has been a thorn in the side of just about everyone he encounters: he ruined a live video shoot by standing up after a tune and saying" I don't think that was very good, can we do another?" on camera! We all were told, one runthrough, no second takes. I have dozens of embarassing stories about him, accumulated over the years. He's also a teacher in my school district and has singlehandedly killed the music program in my district. Schools don't want him back, union says you can't fire him for being an a$$hole, so the schools excess the whole music program just to get rid of him. He's such an idiot that his website doesn't have a link for email, just a phone number.
While we're on the subject:
How can you tell the trombone players kids in the playground?
They can use the slide, but they just can't swing

*Frank Pedulla, cant remain nameless forever, chump

Well the curiosity got the best of me and I searched "Frank Pedulla" into Google. First thing I got was his personal website, nothing special.....then I get this article: Invalid Link Removed

Apparently he got his a$$ beat by a sixth grader. Maybe that is why he is such a prick, I wouldn't be too happy either losing to a sixth grader :eyebrow:

Interesting...anyone else find that article to really poorly edited though? like sentence fragments, no punctuation, a repeated paragraph. Really New York Times? Really?:eyebrow:

What's the difference between a dead rat in the road and a dead bone player in the road???

I just wet myself. I had no idea he was beat up. Even though that was Frank's 7th school in 6 years, no one has ever kicked his butt ( although it would be easy: he looks like an Italian Einstein:D) as I'm sure many have wanted to. By the way 6th grade at that school would be 14 years old. But its still funny. Oops, more wetting of self. But the comparison joke? Priceless. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
There isn't a band he plays with that doesn't have someone who wants to kick his butt. Even other trombone players!
I gotta find some dry underwear.

Just stumbled across this thread, I had NO idea there was so much TB hate coming down on trombone players.

Doesn't bother me personally, never really had a use for a horn player, but I have to ask, WHERE DID THIS COME FROM?

I'm still laughing at the snake story!

Hey, go easy on the New York Times. They've been going through financial hardships lately and had to lay off a lot of full time journalists and editors. I hear they're so hard up they have even resorted to hiring trombone players as part time staffers.
