Why should I not buy a new GK Backline 600?

Call me krazy but I liked it better than the 1001RB. I had the older Neo 1001 212 combo, and I still have the Backline and a Neo 212 cabinet. Got rid of the combo cuz I always used the Backline and 212s instead. Solid amp. No issues. And I liked the lack of bells and whistles that I never used on the 1001 anyhow. Through 2X12s they were both capable of the same volume cuz you could only push the more powerful one so far before it started demolishing the speakers. Something about the tone of the Backline that I liked better too. It was voiced a little differently and easier for me to dial in the sound I wanted. I remember having to do some radical EQing with 1001 in order to get it loud and sounding good.

i was supplied a backline 600 on a bowzer gig a couple weeks ago. i have played them in stores and thought they were pretty good. on the gig, this one sounded pretty excellent. pretty much like any other gk i've played. if i could get one for a hundy, i would be sorely tempted to snag it.

not really. if you can get over the stigma of the price, it's really a good amp.

I have a 400RB-III and have owned a couple of Backline 600's. I dont think I paid more than $125 for either backline and maybe $150 for the 400. I actually tend to run the Backline at gigs. At the last one, I had the 400RB-III all wired up ready to go, and couldnt seem to dial in some low grunt. I plugged in the Backline and lit up the joint with chest thumping bass.

I may upgrade to a MB500 soon, and honestly, I'd probably hock the 400RB-III before the backline. Mine has the old "graffiti" font on the front. Wish it had the Block font like the newer ones.

Stay away from the Goldline, it's a merchandising deal between GK and MF/GC. Not even listed on Gallien's product page. it's sorta like products that are branded exclusively for K-Mart or Wal Mart.

Backline is fine. Actually the bottom section of an 800 RB.

My BL600 (newer model with the newer style logo) has been by far the best bass head I've owned in a very long time - cheap price or no.

I had little cash and alot of new gigs and needed a solid dependable amp fast - and have been gigging it ALOT for over a year now with zero problems. It sounds just like the 800rb I d years ago and is loud as hell, has no problem running large cabs such as the Ampeg fridge either.

I have no use for the distortion channel, other than that it's been great.

Mine was a Christmas present to myself, and I have to say that so far I'm pretty impressed. It sounds eerily similar to my MB200, which is what I was hoping for. Solid and grunty. I use only the clean channel, and none of the boost control. Seems to have lots of power, though I haven't really had a chance to wring it out yet. I breathed a sigh of relief when the fan came on during first practice with it. I hope and expect it'll be trouble-free, 'cause by this stage of the game these things ain't "Revision A" any more, if you know what I mean.

This G-K stuff is great. Wish I'd taken the plunge years ago.
