why shouldn't i get this cab?

Explain how you have the right to say this??? I have never been disappointed by Carvin. I have no complaints about either their equipment or their customer service. Why do so many people dis Carvin? They are a good reputable company.

Paul

It was a response to this (which was quoted above my post if you bothered to read it).

The poster I responded to kind of implied that Carvin was an untrustworthy source. I was having fun with this, that's all. Sorry if I hurt anybody in the process.

Dude! I have played thru a B410 since 1991. It's low-end is better than a bi-amp arrangement I tried one time with an 18" bottom. If live is your most common gig then this is the best bang for the buck. It's about 70lbs and one can easily dead-lift it and carry it chest high. Very practical.

Spector Euro 4LX
Sansamp/Crown PB2
DBX 266
Effects duJour
Carvin B410
Goliath III

Because you don't grasp the concept of sarcasm.:rollno::D

I don't like Carvin gear, I've found it very unreliable in the past and have played better gear that similarly spec'd.

IMO Carvin is like a downgrade from oldschool Ampeg, and you might want to get a Bergantino NV610 which is the closest you'll get to an SVT cab, without actually having IMO and IME

I was thinking of picking up a second cab to downsize from my 810 if I didnt want to haul it around. What Id really like is an Eden 2x10 that has a wedge cab. Its kinda pricey at around $600 but it would make a nice cab.
Ive seen ampeg 6x10 and the swr 8x8 cabs and they both look pretty compact.

......or 2 410's. You like the ampeg stuff and used 410he's pop up all the time. You could probably get close to buying 2 of them for about what you would pay for the carvin. Use one of them most of the time to satisfy your wish to go smaller but keep the other one for when you REALLY need a little sumptin' extra.

I'm leaning toward the avatar at this point. I just hope it can handle my head. today i played through my buddy's old peavey txf and its rated 700w at 4 ohms. i only used half of my power amp, 700w, it was not loud (could barely hear it) and it looked like it was going to pop if i pushed it any harder. i hope i'm not just expecting too much out of a 410 after having and 810. :hmm:

Trouble with people making a blithe off hand "fun" comment that bears no resemblance to the truth is that some other reader might be put off from making a purchase because of that. Personally the choice between a used item of equipment from anyone or a new piece carrying a full warranty is a no brainer. As a matter of interest how is the used item better anyway? 'Cos it's made by Ampeg or other "name" brand possibly made in the far east???? Carvin is at least made in America giving work to Americans and paying taxes to America!! Can you say that about Ampeg for example???

Trust me I understand sarcasm - probably better than you. It is however the lowest form of wit!

Reliability - show me one manufacturer who has never shown up on this site as having a reliability problem. Sure Carvin has had problems in the past, all manufacturers have.

You don't like Carvin. That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. All I can say is that the couple of very minor problems I have encountered with my Carvin equipment, and I own a ton of it, were promptly taken care of to my complete satisfaction.

You have played better equipment with similar specs? Good for you. Were the prices similarly spec'd too??? Just because the OP is looking at 10" drivers doesn't mean he wants an SVT. I too use 10" drivers but I find the SVT cabinet pathetic. Others love them and again that is THEIR right. What a horrible world this would be if we all liked the same thing!! OP try the Carvin I'm still betting you'll keep it.

Dude, did you notice the post I was responding to? That post stated that Carvin wasn't a trusted source.

Peace out!

Similarly priced or better. If it makes you feel any better, I don't like SVT cabs much either.

Some new manufacturers I've haven't seen with problems here on TB off the top of my head:
Cerwin Vega
Bergantino
Warwick

There are also gobs of very reliable old brands such as Acoustic, where don't really count on the issue of them being about 30+ years old at this point.

I've played, and owned, tons of Carvin amp gear when I lived in California. Poorly constructed cabs, sloppy wiring jobs, and easily blown resistors.

I went through 4 B1200 heads before I had one that worked reliably (aka without incident for more than 3 months) I can't think of any other company requiring that you go through 4 amps to get one that works properly.:spit:

Poor reliability issues and false specsa are a no no for me.
