why the hate on multi-effects pedals?

I have an eleven year old Zoom 506-I bass mult effect. It was a gift from a fellow bassist. Its awesome.

That was my first pedal of any kind- got it in 97 or 98. It's a piece of crap and a lot of the effects sound pretty bad, but there are some neat sound combinations on there that I've had a hard time finding with any other pedals/multis. I still have mine in a drawer somewhere.

I have love for the original 506, even if it isn't the greatest multi-fx ever made. I've owned two in the past, usually using only one or two slightly tweaked presets, and it's tuner. I remember one factory preset being fairly close to "46 & 2"..

I have a Boss ME-20B that I picked up "almost new" for $100. It's serving me well for my first foray into bass effects. Perhaps a little later on I'll go to single pedals but so far so good. Nothing to hate on as far as I can see.
