I didn't read all 9 previous pages, so remind me what the controversy is??
The Jazz bass is good; No it's not?? Something like that?
Well, anyway, I have (3)- Not Fenders, all Japanese builds as it were. (1) passive, (2) active w/ 2 & 3 band eq's respectively.
They're all built like most high-end small batch Japanese basses- really well.
I have no lack of tone, punch, or anything else with a J-Bass. I have great amps & a simple signal chain.
If someone prefers a simple P-Bass or a complex Alembic, or an ultra-build like Fodera or Ritter, I have no quarrel whatsoever.
You can buy a Jazz Bass anywhere from what, $150 to VERY high dollar yet traditional versions from Lull, Suhr, Sadowsky, Olinto, and so many more.
A (Jazz) Bass for the People! What's not to like??
Too "burpy"? Hint: Turn down the neck pup.![]()
If I turned down the neck pickup I'd be very quiet as I don't use that bridge thumb rest much.
