Why the Jazz Offset Body??

I almost posted the same thing! :D

I can see how that lower offset bulge might help with the ergos & balance. (Though I just A/Bd the P & J and must say the difference is not dramatic.)

To be honest, even if the offset contours made the thing almost unplayable, I'd probably still lust after it because I personally think the J-bass is freakin' gorgeous.

I love both P and J but honestly I bought the my first Jazz on looks alone because I was a big fan of the Jazzmaster and Jaguar offset shaped guitars (yes I play guitar too)
the fact that it had a more cutting sound over the Precision I was currently playing was the icing on the cake. The only downside is yes they tend to get heavy and can be a pain for fixed bottom guitar stands.. Still love them though and I would grab my MIA first if there ever was a fire in my house

I actually like the shape of the Rics. They have a really retro-modern look to them.

I've never specifically heard one or played one before though, so I don't know much beyond its aesthetics.

As for the Cadillac question, same reason why import cars have spoilers.

i think jazz bodys are ugly they look like there made out of a block of fire damaged plastic thats sagged due to the heat

yet for some reason i want one.... i want one so badly i'm selling one of my fave bass's to fund it
i think its one of those shapes you hate at 1st but then slowly adore

When I first started playing bass years ago I actually hated the Fender style (both P and J) and swore I'd never get one. Now be it my Fenders or my SX's every bass in my arsenal is a P or a J body, except the old cheapie Washburn that was my first bass that I keep around for sentimental value in a case in the closet.

I guess it looked too generic for me at first but I've learned to appreciate how nice and simple they look over some of the more wild body styles that I can't seem to like as much anymore.
