Why the negativity regarding Markbass?

I liked the CMD combo that I sold about 8 years ago. Sort of wish I kept it. If it was $400 less, I may have bought it again, but I went with the GK 210 combo this time around because of the price difference.

Who’s expressing this disgust for Markbass outside of an Internet forum or Facebook? Markbass seems to be pretty decent sounding amps but I’ve never been a fan of them personally (just don’t dig their sound). I wouldn’t have a problem using one as a backline rig if the situation arose but I’d rather put my money into something more old-school with lots of tubes.

No negativity here.

I owned an LM2 and it made a fantastic sound through 2 Aguilar GS112's.

I haven't owned any of their cabs but every player I've heard so far using a Markbass rig has sounded pretty good. Nothing wrong with any of them.

I remember TalkBass having a pretty interesting debate between the Markbass Little Mark series, the Shuttle series from Genz Benz, and the Aguilar ToneHammer that went on for quite a while. It was really quite interesting and the Markbass stuff seemed to be well regarded. I went the Genz route, still have it.

Micro heads are pretty common place now and the whole issue just doesn't seem to turn people's crank like it did when they were first coming out. The amp talk on Talkbass is pretty ho hum these days, not much interesting to me in general maybe that's part of it.

Loved mine when I had it. I stopped playing last year so I sold it and a lot of basses. I kept my 1x12 Markbass extension cab to use with a Peavey MiniMax head. I wish I hadn't let my Markbass combo go because now I'm playing and gigging again. If I had the chance I would get another CMD-112P combo, but I would have to let some other gear go first.

I owned Markbass gear for many years. The lm3 and later upgraded to the Lmt800. I also had two 102 p traveler cabs. I had nothing but good luck with them. Marco even sent me a whole bunch of stuff ( shirts hats stickers sunglasses fancy pens in a leather case...)after I commented on a pic on the Markbass fb page. When my lm3 started to crackle a bit when I turned some knobs , I reached out to CS in Italy. Riccardo got right back to me and set me up with a repair at NO charge, even though it was well out of warranty. They replaced the power amp and pre amp. Pretty much everything under the hood. Nothing but good for me. The 102p was the best 210 I have had.
I think some people don't like the Guitar center connection. But from a business prospective it was great for his company.
I don't currently use their stuff. I moved on to Ampeg, Aguilar, Phil Jones and Trace Elliot. But only because I have GAS and want to change it up.
Just like changing Girlfriends, different flavours.
I would use their stuff again in a second and probably will, IMAG0254.jpg maybe.

I've never noticed any negativity - MB gear is out there, seen onstage, and respected as a line that gets the job done and doesn't break down any more or less than anything else. Some guys play it, some don't. Aside from that, it's not discussed too much among working musicians. Online - that's a totally different story. :D
Very true dat!

I tried a Markbass rig out several years ago at G.C. and seriously disliked the tone. And they are not relevant anymore. Cabs and amps have come a long way since MB designed their gear. But I'm hopelessly biased since I have been using Greenboy Fearless cabs and a Genzler Magellan for two years now.
