wich cab for the lh 500 ? ? ?

Hi,

I've now been looking for an amp since last year and I didn't found it yet but I already found my head (hartke lh 500,don't have it yet) and I'd like you to help me find my cab ( I'd also like some reviews on the lh 500) !

I'd like a cab that's in the 600 watts range (4ohms) and I don't want it to be to heavy (40 kg max., 88lbs) and I have 700€ (999 usd) to spend on it.

thx ! :bassist:

PS: I wrote in kg,€,... because I live in Europe. ;)

yeah! considered it too, but I heard real bad things about ashdown ... but I'm pretty shure it's only for de mag series ... I already have an ashdown and I don't realy like the sound of it. So I'm trying different brands ... but thx for the replie ! anyone else ?

I've got a Carvin BRX 2x10 that is really something. Definately good bang for the buck, at least over here (USA).

Markbass is something else entirely, however. It's an Italian company, so maybe you get a better deal than we do.

My 2 cents

I had an LH500 for a while a couple years ago. It sounded fantastic with an Acme B2, a pair of Aguilar DB112s, and an Aguilar GS410. Not sure about Aguilar's availability in Europe, and I always suggest used.

I would think any cab that isn't aiming for "hi-fi" would sound really really good. And even the cabs that do go for "hi fi" would sound fine, too. Hard to go wrong with the LH heads.

I'm going to try out some cabs with the lh 500 in about a month, and I'll see what's best sounding with it. any other help would be welcom ... ! :D

PS: europe is that continent next to asia and next to the north sea ... (Gb,belgium,france,germany,italy,...)

yeah ! but the hydrive 410 is a 1000 watt's and is a 4ohms cab. Isn't that to much power for the lh 500 to handle !? Or I can get an lh 1000 but I think that would be to much power !

Hydrive cabs are 8 Ohms each so you need a pair to get the highest volume out of the amp.
I personally would get the LH1000 head as when running at 8 Ohms, it can turn out 500 watts into that 1,000 watt box.

As you grow and your requirements grow, all you need to is buy a second 4x10 matching box and you are done for life. 1000 watts into 2000 watts speakers. Perfect.

Don't forget the most important thing, you can turn it down if it is too loud. The very best option.

yes, I checked and they are 8 ohms but in the specifications they wrote: bridge mode:
1 X 750 watt @ 8 ohms.
Does it mean that I'm going to get 750 watt out of my hydrive? What's bridge mode?

I think I'm going to get the hydrive 410 and the lh 1000 and if I need more power I'd add a hydrive 115 or 112 .

It means you would have 750W 2@ 8 Ohms whic his find with the Hydrive cab becaue it is 8Ohms and 1000 watts.

For bets results, don't mix cabs. Later........you can look at a second 4x10 Hydriev cab and get the full 1000 W if you think you need it but in my experience, 750 Watts is a great number.

I use a 500 + a 350 head on stage and that 850 Watts is a no strain powerhouse in the Hartke gear. I used to use another 500 head for 1350 Watts but it was not needed anywhere I played.

I just have 2 last question. what should I buy lh 500 or lh 1000, because on other forums the lh 500 seamed to be really loud so I don't know If I should buy a louder cabinet. but I think that the lh 500 combined with the hydrive 410 would be less then 500 watts because it's an 8 ohms cab. Is this true ?

Yes, it is true. You will draw less than 500 watts from the amp with an 8 ohm cab. Probably somewhere in the area of 300-350 watts.

I's go for the LH1000 if you could afford it.

Double the watage IS NOT double the volume. It is only an increase of +3db (all other things being equal). It takes 10X the power to double your volume.

Buy the LH1000. In the real world, you will never need more power. That's the only head you will ever have to buy.
