Hello. Last week I changed the strings on my bass with dunlop nickel wounds and I was unpleasantly surprised to see that they were completly dead within two hours (and I didn't even play the bass for two hours). Something similar happened before with a set of Daddario's but I thought it was the strings. I gave up searching for solutions, seeing that the following days the problem persisted. Then I packed my bass in a soft case because I had to leave the next day for uni. When I arrived to my destination, the bass has been sitting in the case for at least 30 hours and I was shocked to see that the strings sounded brand new. The strings don't go dead at my place at uni, either. There were no major changes in temperature when the bass has been sitting in the case, either. How is this possible? What could be the factors that could cause the strings to die so fast since similar things happened to all my previous basses, and I always thought the strings were the problem? Could it be the humidity, the dust or air quality in the room?

I'm 100% sure the dunlops are installed, the daddario's were in the trash already at the time of instalation.
