I really wish he offered 5 strings. I just purchased an Alien Audio, 30" 5 string Constellation bass and waiting for that to show up.

But I'm still gonna get one of these eventually. Just gotta wait till the cookie jar refills :laugh:

haha. I seriously think it is worth any spousal abuse you may endure :). This bass is special and sits in a mix in a very unique and awesome way. Plus the play-ability is on another level.

They are definitely something special in the short-scale community.

I'm starting to lean toward his MM pickup model, just because I think it would get me a different sound than what I already have. You don't see a lot of shorty's with that kind of pickup.

What 5 string sereks do you have? Im curious about how those compare to a 34. A short scale 5 string is probably next on my list at some point.

Good question, I am not sure on the specs. I measured and it looks right around 38mm on the nut. Shape is a pretty nice deep D if I had to guess. It is deeper than my Fender P or Sadowsky, but its perfect in the hand. Radius I believe is the same as my Sadowsky.

Just got this Wilcock Mullarkey! Alder body, maple and rosewood neck. I got this used. The strings were dead so I changed them to DR hi-beam shorts. And HOLY MOLY! This thing sounds huge!! Also the fit and finish are top notch. Mine has also lollipop style hipshot tuners and vol vol tone setup. Going to take this one on a gig next friday.
I'll let the pictures talk the rest :)

Where's the love? In my case, it's directly proportional to the availability of Wilcock long scale, left handed basses. And, looking at their website? I don't see even the hint of them...:rollno: However, even though they make nothing that would fill a spot in my herd? A long scale lefty 4P-51 might be nice to have...:whistle:

All the basses are hand made by Viv Wilcock and he'll surely do long scales AND lefties! :) I know he have done both! there's couple of long scales up for sale in BassGallery London, but yeah... no lefties right now.

I'm not going to say that he definitely won't make a left handed bass. But, I've been looking for left handed basses for a lotta years, and I've communicated with a fair number of custom/boutique makers. And I've learned a couple of things:
- A discouragingly large number of people who make custom instruments, don't believe that "Custom" includes left handed ones - and they will not make one;
- Most people who will make a left handed instrument? They're not shy about saying so - right up front. Or, at least they'll they'll list "left handed" as one of the options for a given bass. Viv Wilcock's website doesn't mention "left handed" anywhere. Maybe the omission is just an oversight, but - based on past experience? I don't think he wants my business. Whether he will or he won't, it's a moot point, anyhow. As I said, they look like nice basses, but - there's no open spot in my herd for anything he makes - left handed or not...:cool:

I understand, but I have to say that Wilcock have had lefties also for sale :)

Yes in that it's a two pickup short-scale, but the pickguard is different. I actually prefer the look of the Mullarkey, although this one (from his FB) is my favorite...

I asked Viv Wilcock this and he said no. However most of his basses are built to order so I don't think it matters (unless you want to try it first)
