Wilcock Basses - Where's the Love???

Yeah yeah yeah, taking a victory lap with a middle finger to the crowd.
I predicted this would happen earlier in this thread. The build quality is substantially higher than anything in the 1500-2k range and the demand is shooting up. I was stunned when i got mine, as its rocketed up to become my favorite bass.
i think these are special basses and always have. The tone is unique yet sits in the mix (especially for smoother music like r&b, electronic,jazz,hip hop) perfectly, and the neck is perfect. Action on par with sadowsky. In my defense, I tried to tell you all this would happen!
You were right. I just had my cash tied up in custom bass waits at the time.His basses are beautiful. No doubt. $3k is still too much for a used short scale. Guitar Shop NYC is gold rushing. To be expected from Brooklyn.
The bassist is Rob Mullarkey (he of the Wilcock Mullarkey, it was designed to his specs). He does an interesting review of the chambered P51 on YT and it's on the Wilcock website: it's a really special looking bass. Viv will also do a chambered Mullarkey, which I'm very interested in...
I'm not going to say that he definitely won't make a left handed bass. But, I've been looking for left handed basses for a lotta years, and I've communicated with a fair number of custom/boutique makers. And I've learned a couple of things:
- A discouragingly large number of people who make custom instruments, don't believe that "Custom" includes left handed ones - and they will not make one;
- Most people who will make a left handed instrument? They're not shy about saying so - right up front. Or, at least they'll they'll list "left handed" as one of the options for a given bass. Viv Wilcock's website doesn't mention "left handed" anywhere. Maybe the omission is just an oversight, but - based on past experience? I don't think he wants my business. Whether he will or he won't, it's a moot point, anyhow. As I said, they look like nice basses, but - there's no open spot in my herd for anything he makes - left handed or not...
You'll be pleasantly surprised if you decide to add to the herd, he does lefties

Here in the UK he charges £1750 for the Mullarkey and £1900 for the BiSonic, which would translate to around $2275/$2470 - plus shipping and import duties I assume. In the UK the price you see has no sales tax to add, it's already built in, in fact you may be able to get the VAT back for an export order which means 20% reduction in the price ex Viv

Not sure, I ordered mine end of March. Once he starts it takes about 10 weeks to complete, apparently.
My Mullarkey arrived 2 weeks ago, has its first gig last weekend, it is absolutely fantastic to play and utterly gorgeous to look at. If you have the budget, go for it. Apparently he's just delivered one to JMJ as well, so another celeb buyer

Yes, that's right, he's taking longer than normal at the moment because we are getting delays in all sorts of materials and services here in the U.K. as a result of the pandemic, which I guess will all start to sort themselves out over the next months. It looks to me like he might be getting more interest and orders which would slow things down, but that's just my impression. I see Justin Meldall Johnson just took delivery of one, which will raise Viv's profil again. He normally does talk about 10-12 weeks; I suspect realistically I'd reckon on 4 months plus any shipping time as a minimum. But worth the wait, for sure.

I quite liked the sound of the Mullarkey in that clip. Good name too, but it has a different meaning in slang here.
PS from the previous post. If any Mullarkey owner has a couple of minutes, could you please measure from the nut to the front (neck) edge of the bridge pickup please? It looks like it straddles part of a P and part of an MM position. I'm curious is all as it's a bit unusual. Cheers.
