I am hearing chatter that many guitars/basses in the Player Series have nut slot issues and that unlike the usual CTS pots they are using cheaper pot-metal MIC pots. Accordingly, I'm approaching this new line with caution. They are more expensive, still no included case or bag, and geez for that money I could come close to affording a good used MIA model.

Or build a Warmoth that will be snifgently higher quality.

Well, if the upside of offshoring production was saving that pesky shipping expense you might be onto something.

Hi guys, Can anyone tell me the difference between ceramic and alnico pickups. Better, worse, different flavor?

The difference is in the materials used, as someone else pointed out.

I had both alnico and ceramic MIA MM Sterlings and the difference was pretty dang subtle, however, I eventually sold one and kept the other. The one I kept is the ceramic variant, but that might just be because I found it to be sexier - so it's kinda hard to tell.

The Mexican government treats both made by Mexicans as made in the USA when it comes to tax purposes. All MIM plant output has to go straight into the USA, and imported back into Mexico as USA made before it can be sold there.

It's all about the overall design. If it wasn't, all pickups with the same magnet composition would sound the same.

Raising prices when all prices are going up is not an evil thing they are doing to you on a personal level. The prices of labor and materials and marketing and fees are all going up. It only stands to reason that the stuff MADE by that labor and materials will go up.

Name a brand of bass that hasn't raised prices in ...... say..... the last 7 or 8 years.

It literally has upgrades that cost money to implement! Do you want a worse guitar, for less? Because that's what you'd get!

What was wrong with the Fox body Mustang? Why change the outside of the dang Mustang?
