Will Fender still have the MIM basses?

Oh goodness! I generally thought the reference in the excerpted online review was perhaps solely for the 6-string guitars and applicable to us via just overall quality issue concepts but no- that picture shows the bass nut as off. That is a big deal as you can see it... what else is in there lurking?
If you want a PJ I highly highly recommend the Fender Deluxe PJ that is MIM. I have one and it is absolutely fantastic and worth the ~$750 tag they are usually on sale for.
I am actually a little surprised that the bump was only $50 … Fender has a history of aligning name changes to price increases … the last bass that Fender attached a 'new' moniker to allow them to 'adjust' the price was when they took the $499 'Fender FSR Jazz', and changed it to the 'Fender Special Edition Ash Deluxe Jazz Bass Natural', and raised the price $150 to $629, making no other changes ...
Oh! I played one at GC last year and It was really great sounding. I'm just not into the block inlays, not my style. I was wanting a jazz bass body with PJ pickups, I know there's the Fender Aerodyne series but they're only available in black. I was wanting a sunburst finish.
Fender does a really bad job catering to peoples different tastes, as they don't have that buttercream color on the Pau Ferro boards which is insane to me. I am not the biggest fan of block inlays but I loved how it plays and was able to get over it.
The Aerodyne is also fantastic but yeah, the all black is a bit much for me.
I saw this and also read the Reddit blog - (if true) what surprises me the most, is how any of this could have happened.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the MIM Standard Series of yesterday the exact same thing as the Player Series of today - made in the same factories by the same workers on the same assembly lines.
How could this much margin of error be occurring? It's not like they're reinventing the wheel here.

They are not the exact same, they've swapped out pick ups, all white pick guards, small minor changes, but my contention is they produced a poopie ton at once and the QC fell to the way side as they sought to ship a bunch out at onceI saw this and also read the Reddit blog - what surprises me the most, is how any of this could have happened.

Buy and sell the neck. There are tons of people that do like the block inlays, or you could trade straight up with someone for a neck you do like.
I have seen and played a few of the new Player Series basses at two separate Guitar Center stores in my area. I found them to be quite nice and put together well. The responses I am reading in this thread are entirely predictable. The lot of you naysayers just love to pile on, don't you?

I tend to love fender but their photos for the p basses clearly show poorly cut slots in the nut.
I am just stating what I experienced first hand. If there was any issue with the nut slots on the instruments I played, it was not obvious or noticeable to me. The finish and action was very good and they sounded just like they were supposed to.

Yeah, that's really weird. Aren't those slots cut by machine? How do you mess that up?
Very true, it was something I was considering but I'm moving away from the P bass look. I already have a P bass so I'm itching for more Jazz looking basses.
I am hearing chatter that many guitars/basses in the Player Series have nut slot issues and that unlike the usual CTS pots they are using cheaper pot-metal MIC pots. Accordingly, I'm approaching this new line with caution. They are more expensive, still no included case or bag, and geez for that money I could come close to affording a good used MIA model.
I'm probably going to wait a bit and see how this all works out- the nut slot issues and cheaper pots are a little puzzling- guess I'll have to try a few at my store when they get them in and see for myself.

Pretty sure adding new pickups, better tuners, better body shaping and more colours is worth the $50
We really need a proper announcement thread w/ press release attached for this...way too much misinformation floating around, including the title of this thread.

Still a MIM Fender. In my opinion it's just a marketing ploy to generate more interest.
