Will it arrive?

Will my bass arrive or not?

But ship a bass USPS? Not gonna happen, except in the rare case where I ship overseas and it's half the price of other options. I also find that USPS tracking numbers are universally useless - I think I've had a grand total of ONE USPS tracking number that ever worked.

Not only was it shipped USPS, but it was shipped STANDARD USPS! Seller's communication has been great and he assures me he wrapped and double-boxed it so I'm hoping there won't be any issues.

My motto for using USPS is "...when you absolutely, positively don't care whether it gets there or not." I've had $1000 worth of merchandise disappear into the USPS back room for six months, then appear one day covered in dust. Clearly it fell off a belt somewhere and sat around for months until someone spotted it. (To be fair, that happened some years ago.) I guess is would be hard for that to happen to something as large as a bass...right?

OTOH, FedEx Ground tracking numbers always work, are always accurate, and the price is normally better than any other option - especially since I got smart and opened a FedEx account. I seldom use it, but it provides a discount when I do. FedEx is my first choice, UPS second. USPS is my shipper of last resort.

FedEx is my carrier of choice too. Far too many times USPS tracking has not worked. I shipped out three packages recently using USPS priority mail. In all three instances, the packages were delivered before the tracking system showed them as being received.

I know you all have been anxiously awaiting an update on this but it is in my town! :hyper::bassist:

I'm still trying to find the right time to inform my spouse that it's coming today so if any of y'all can help with that, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks to @RussT as I just bought a Babicz bridge to throw on it as well to go with the new pickguard, pickups, strings, and knobs. Essentially, I bought a neck and a body. Hey! That's what I'll tell my wife! I didn't buy another bass! I just bought a neck and a body!

What is the bass you are so eagerly awaiting?

It's a Darrin Huff bass.

J/k. It's a Squier Chris Aiken P bass. I needed a P to round out my stable with a nice maple-necked Precision for not a lot of money. I'm using it as a low-cost canvas to customize to my liking. Will do a NBD post along with my all-black '86 Fender Jazz Bass Special P/J as soon as I'm done modding them both (this one much more than the Fender).

Cool deal. I'm a fan of P basses.

It did get delivered yesterday morning. Let it warm up for many hours and finally opened it up around midnight last night. It looks great and sounds pretty good with the stock Duncan Designed pickups. The fret ends are a bit of a cheese grader though so I'll need to sort that out.

Let the modding commence!
