I agree that this is a group of musicians who really know how to listen to one another while making funk music that feels classic yet progressive at the same time. Guitar sounds are really cool and bridge that classic and modern chasm beautifully. As far as the rest of it, very old school, but weird, and I mean that in a good way!

Edited to add: by the way, drums are FANTASTIC!!!

Definitely keep us posted on gigs. I had planned to make that last NYC gig you mentioned as I was playing in the city myself that night but timing didn’t end up working.
I haven’t seen Will in awhile, I used to play a lot with a friend of his and he would come down a lot. It would be great to see him again.

Cool— the next show is at Rockwood 1 on 1/23 at 10pm. I’d love to see you there. To be clear.... the current live version of the band is different from the EP.... here’s the line up: me on drums, Jon Price on bass (you may not have heard of him but he’s a monster); Gene Segal on guitar (also perhaps not well known but a sick player), and Steve Blanco on keys. The musicians in this line up may not be as famous as Will and Oz, but I can promise you they will not disappoint! Hope I see you there....

Yeah I got that.
No question the NYC certainly has its quota of sick players you’ve never heard of...
1/25 should be a great night of music unless I end up with a gig, my buddy is playing downtown not far from where you’ll be so I’ll pop over after.

Awesome, Gene subs in my band sometimes and is a great player (and person!). I'm going to try to make that show, glad you posted it here.

Man, that's some solid groove, great chord progressions, dynamics, and awesome solos.

But my favorite part is the FUN! Lots of music makes me bob my head and get a look on my face like something stinks (in a good way). Rarely does music make me grin. This does.

You guys are obviously accomplished players and expressive, talented artists. But thanks for not taking your art too seriously and for having some fun with it. It comes through in the music.

Looking forward to the album. And, yes, I'll BUY it.

Me too! I still enjoy critically listening to Steely Dan. The subtle nuances in their music is amazing. One of the great events in my life was sitting in a coffee shop just outside of Nashville and chatting with Chuck Rainey. What a good guy.
