Will Line 6 ever bring back a Bass Pod?

Well, and it depends on one's idea of "a lot", too. For example there are "lots" of bassists asking for more bass-specific gear from Line6, but "lots" there might mean dozens or hundreds of people who would buy something once a year; while Line6 sells hundreds of units of guitar-specific gear every day.

There will be a B-15 model in the HD series when the 2.0 firmware comes out in a month or two. Not sure if that's for bassists or to give guitar players some more versatility. I think I'd be happy with a B-15, an SVT and a "modern" amp like a GK or Eden.

But I think that overall they're ignoring bassists. The M5 is still a good supplemental pedal to put on your pedalboard. A lot of versatility and the octave is killer.

I don't really think that they're ignoring bassists, they've recently released Artist patches for most of their new toneprint line of effects. The M series gets a lot of love amongst the bass community, despite the filters and gain section not being as strong as hoped.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think one of the Line 6 guys posts here on this forum and he's been really good at engaging with people on here before.

You're thinking TC Electronic with the toneprints. Rich Renken does stop in from time to time and he tries to get features added for bassists as he's a bassist himself, but the company has to be willing to listen to bassists. They certainly have in the past but must have crunched the numbers and decided we're not worth it. The B-15 addition to the HD series is a glimmer of hope.

I would be perfectly happy with a Line6 hardware device that allows a full "Bass Pod" firmware/software update. Sell me an HD500 or whatever and just post the bass patches for download/update. I know they already have the patches and they sound pretty darn good. Don't worry about a bass specific device, but at least post something to download with all of the cool bass patches and charge 20 bucks for it.

Problem solved. No hardware costs or losing money on making devices that don't sell.

I noticed they pulled their sponsored forum from talkbass the other day.

Brent

I don't think they "pulled" it, more likely the term that the purchased ran out and they didn't renew. Line 6 didn't really add much to that particular forum and I think it ended up being a place for people to post support issues.

Rich Renken was trying, so I don't fault him.
