Will Someone Please Tell Me How To Stop The Bleeding!

My daughter had a nose bleeding problem that was cured by a trip to the ear/nose/throat specialist and a cauterization. Painless, 30 second, procedure.

if you suspect the dry weather being a cause, try using vaseline on a q-tip to coat the inside of your nose.

Tom

Exact same thing happened to me. If you don't trust vaseline (or use it for something else) you can also use polysporin ointment.

I used to pinch my nose to stop a nosebleed, but here's a trick I've been doing lately that works a lot better.

Lie on your back on the ground or on the couch with your head slightly propped up. Then slowly but deeply enhale through your nose and exhale out your mouth. A little blood might run down your throat, but if you prop your head up at just the right angle, very little will. This trick works a lot better than the nose-pinch one.

I second the recommendation to attend an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist.

I had chronic nosebleeds for YEARS, and finally they just got out of control. I went to the doc, he cauterized the veins in my nose, and I think I might have had 2 nosebleeds in the past 3 years.

The worst part of it is the fact that I couldn't feel my upper lip for the rest of the day from the local anesthetic they use.

Cool, thanks for the trick, I will totally try this.

And I guess I should look into this as a more permanant solution. So to freeze the area are they going to put a needle into my face? I dont really do well with needles :hiding:

Have you been taking aspirin recently? Aspirin thins the blood, and when I take it, I have a tendency toward nosebleeds.

Also, if it's happening at night, it may have something to do with the increased pressure when your head is no longer higher than the rest of you.

But do have it checked out, by all means.

In High School & Collegiate level wrestling, nose bleeds are EXTREMELY common. The athletes are training to very intense levels, reducing thier body fat to incredible levels to optimize strength to weight ratios.

As such, when you loose that much fat, & then de-hydrate yourself to a certain level... AND, then consider that its a very physcial & violent sport, it is not uncommon for someone to get cross-faced & get a nosebleed.

Cross-facing someone is when, you try to steer thier head a certain direction with force,, by taking your forearm & shoving it across thier face...

ANYWAY, in wrestling, they cut tampons in half, shove it up yer nose,, clean up the blood & you keep going.

I know what you mean...one time I took some aspirin and all my blood TOTALLY sprayed out of my pores. I had to kill a goat and drink it's blood just to stay alive. That's how the whole "chupacabra" legend started...it was awesome.
