Yeah Tumbao, that's really all I was up to. I just wanted to clear up any mispercetions people may have about this thread. I tried to do it in a way that didn't seem angry/provocative/snide.

I would be the last person (maybe after you Tumbao) that would try to end and/or soil an R-Bass thread.

no blame to Wilbyman, but sometimes folks get stirred up around here, almost like a lynch mentality: " he loves R Basses s o much, he MUST be affiliated!" it has happened to me with F Basses and I AM a dealer for them, so i once offered to either remove the name of the bass i was speaking highly of, or the thread entirely. After investigation, it was allowed to stay... i personally don't see a huge deal with this , but some people really get concerened. Thing is, in some cases, this really does happen with people associated always starting threads and supporting a luthier, or brand name and it goes undetected ! some people get arond the rule of not starting a thread about a product by having others do it. Bottom lie, if we ( and I don't aim this at Wilbyman ) sit and scour TB for these posts, we will find them all over. just this week i have seen a couple, but i will not mention them myself so don't ask, but it's been such an obvious case of one person helping another promote their business that i was surprised it wasn't called-
we are here to discuss bass and it is difficult to stay clearly within the boundaries of the cup. Too bad, where there is money involved ....
but i always saw this thread as just a hapy satisfied player giving kudos to the luthier.

Thanks for the kind words about my bass! You should see it in person. The camera flash always accentuates the tiger striping in the maple top too much. Much smoother and sexier in real life, if that's possible.

You may remember that I was looking to sell my 1962 Precision to finance a Fodera; That's all in the past now - I'm keeping the '62!!

After reading every thing I could lay my eyes on and asking lots of questions, I too have owned an Rbass for about a month now. I must admit that as a consumer I found the Fodera/Rbass connection to be a very powerful influence in my deciding to check the Rbass out.
I swung a deal with Cameron at Tradeing basses for his single cut, 34" scale with Barts and a U-Retro pre and I don't regret it, not ONE BIT. I have yet to find a bass that will allow lower action and overall better playbility. The tone is wonderful and the balance is outstanding, plus the materials and build quality are all pro! Out of my 28 basses it now occupies the #1 spot in my rack... for now.

(If you know of anyone selling aan Rbass double cut 34" [Fodera Emperor like body style] send them my way.)

Adrian, what's the connection between feeling guilty and owning 4+ basses? Assuming that we aquire our instruments by honest means, and we don't short change our families while doing it, we should sleep very well at night (shame and guilt free) my friend.

i hear ya, man- i have had people tell me it's ok... especially since that is what i do for a living. i certainly don't judge anyone having multiple basses!
i am fighting with the sale of a Sadowsky Tokyo. I have my F bass and a great Fender Am Dlx J V - but i love the Tokyo as well.. and my main gig just closed, but it's not like it's crunch time or anything...
i got issues, what can i say? :D

oh, and i need a fretless, too! :hiding:

I'm a big Rbass fan, and I like the design direction that Ray is moving towards. I think getting away from the "Fodera" look is really going to increase the demand for his basses. My only gripe with him is that at times, he's hard to reach, and if there's a problem, you have to ship to PR, not that it's a deal breaker, but it could be for some people.

In my experience Ray has always returned my emails, calls, etc... normally within a few minutes if I call him. As far as him being located in PR, to me he's no further than it would take you to send your bass to any other luthier. I just purchased that 6 string from him. He mailed it on Monday via Post Office priority mail and I got Wenesday only 2 days and I live in GA. To me Ray is awesome when it comes to customer service but maybe its because I'm his biggest fan:)

Ray has improved as far as returning emails go. I've emailed him recently and have had a response from him no later than a few days after the initial email. Trust me, he was brutal about returning emails a few years back, and he was vitually impossible to contact untill recently.

Well I've only been dealing with him for less than a year now so I really can't comment on that. All I can say is that he's been good to me

This is a nice calm thread, so I don't mind digging it up......know what I mean? :hiding:

Anyways, I actually had two slots with Ray, this was one of them (I had two slots, but only intended to keep one of them), and after checking it out, dig it but the maple ain't me, and a local fellow to him who is a pro has been dying for it, so we just made things happen to the joy of both of us. However, these are pretty much the new style, so figured I would post. I am going for the same thing, except right now I am trying to find the sickest walnut out there w/o sapwood and going with mac ebony on the board. The only issue is that I would LOVE to have that baby, but fear of me turning it over eventually is getting in my way (most likely the bass I keep won't be one of my working basses, that is better left to my other R and F)

He has also offered to make me (and I he ain't gonna do this for anybody else, which iswhy I think I should take him up on it) to do a funky scroll bass for me, which I am torn on. I LOVE that sc shape, but always wanted a scroll to. Life is pretty tough, huh?

Hey, I TOTALLY ADMIT I am one of the idiots who lieks to order a bass, then don't fall COMPLETELY in love while knowing full well that I can't justify too many freakin basses in the first place, and then does something stupid.

As I type that out, that sounds like 'idiot', don't you think? :help: :hyper:

Its ok to agree. This one time.....

PS, I'd also like state that I hate reviewing what I type and like to misspell constantly, but you guys seem smart enough to know that.
