Will this wiring scheme work?

i have a jazz-style bass with a 3-way switch, volume and tone. I prefer two volumes and don't mess with the tone much. I want to wire it with two volumes and use the 3-way blade switch to activate a couple of capacitors to give me a pre-set bass cut and a pre-set treble cut. So position 1 would give me the treble cut, 2 would bypass the caps, and 3 would give me the bass cut. I know the general principles of how to wire these cuts (in parallel for treble cut, in series for bass cut). But I can't quite translate these to a standard 3-way. Are there any drawbacks or impossibilities to this. And if not, could someone sketch out the wiring at the switch for me? I just can't visualize how a 3-way works internally. It's always stumped me. Thank you!
 
Right now it has the original blade-style (Telecaster) switch. It's an old G&L Lynx with the metal control plate, so I'd rather not have to drill -- I'm trying to rig it up using the current switch. Thanks, line6man!
 
The standard telecaster blade-type pickup switch is a two-pole, three position switch. The Les Paul type pickup switch is actually two individual single-pole switches made so both switch sides are ON in the middle position. The up and down positions leave one switch on and switch off the alternate side.
 
Ok, here is the diagram. C1 is the bass cut capacitor, and C2 is the treble cut capacitor. I should have asked earlier, but does the switch look like the one in the diagram? If it is an import switch with one long column of terminals, then there are translation diagrams online.
