Mac book air+garage band+High Sierra + Presonus Firepod interface.
I’m looking to record eight inputs at once for a better demo than a Zoom H2 in the middle of the room.

I’m under the impression that I could connect the Presonus FireWire out to the thunderbolt in on the MBA through a series of adaptors.

I haven't done this w/ the MB Air, but in my mobile rig I use Firepod + MB Pro (Sierra 10.15.5) regularly, w/ Firewire 800/400 cable into a FW to Thunderbolt adapter. Works fine on the MBP; should work on the Air.

If you already have the Firepod just give it a try, it should work. Otherwise I'd stay away from any FW interface at this point, used USB interfaces often cost less and are more likely to work on old and new computers.

Glad you spoke up. I was debating between two interfaces. A Firepod and a Tascam. I went with a Tascam US-1800

Finally received the Tascam yesterday.. I got the driver loaded no problem at all. I'm using a MBA Garageband and the Tascam US1800. Everything is working great. 8 tracks at once.
