It depends, is my response. Wet sauce, I prefer drums. Crispy breading I prefer flats.

That very same animal has many many other parts that have better meat/gristle ratio.

Wings are about the skin, not the meat. If I wanted a lot of chicken meat I'd eat a chicken breast. If I want a lot of chicken flavor than I eat the wings, or the thighs.
