Wicked awesome! That sucks on the Delano pupYes. Actually, I ended up changing the pickup as the Delano did not pick up full volume from the A string. Funny thing, I converted a Precision to a 5 string, and the existing pickup worked great.
I ended up winding a humbucker. I took a few pics of the process.
Flat work, bobbin creation, etc.
Made a new cover, routed the pickup area, and wound the coils. 4500 winds each.
The wax bath.
And installed.
I may start using this humbucker design going forward. It's a bit of a pain - twice as much work, but no hum, and they sound almost as good as the single coil.
Anyway, I'll work on a sound clip.
Never played any of them before but was thinking of putting 1 in my Warwick neck position to give it a cleaner but still round tone. Although I've always favored Nordstrands so was thinking on replacing the MEC's with Nordy's too. But I do like the growl that MEC's impart on it. Ahhh choices..... Takes me forever to pull the trigger too as I have to do years of research, because after I get around to actually installing the pickups(in between recording/playing shows/kids/work/etc)months usually go bye. So if I don't like them, I've got hundreds of dollars of paperweights...lol I'd go nut's as a builder. Might be a little too anal! Hahahahah
