Sure, I used abalone dots and black laminate for the lines. I got a shot of one of the dots that shows the abalone well, the others look good, but didn't photograph well.

Thanks! suffering from a bit of post-build let down right now. I have the strong urge to start another one. But I think I'm going to take that energy and put it into selling a few. I have to stop the madness here, how many basses can I own? N+1 right? but when N = 20 things are getting out of hand.

Yes, it's how I've built most of my fretless basses. I know they usually put the dots where the frets would go (3,5,7 etc). My ear isn't great, so I rely on the lines, unfortunately. I really don't like putting lines across the board though.

I actually admire it, thus my question. I'm sort of.....kind of.......planning a fretless build and since not only is my ear not that good but neither is my playing ability, I'm probably gonna jack your method.

It's a good way to cheat without people in front knowing you're cheating.

That fret line idea is brilliant, I love it! Not only does it keep the board looking cleaner AND allow for better intonation while playing, the structure of the outer part of the wood is intact, leaving the stronger side "out" against string tension. So cool!!! Very nice work, overall.

Well, look who decided to make an appearance, it was in my tool box where I keep tools, not bass parts. Oh well.

I've been playing the bass a lot, I love it. It sounds really good, but you have to play clean, so it's taken a little while for me to relearn that. Unfortunately band practice was canceled this week, so it will have to wait for a real run down with the band.

A guy in our maintenance department has a "put my stuff there" shelf in his workshop just inside the door. He says it's for putting things he's working on, or small stuff that gets lost while working. I actually am right now thinking of making one up in my workshop, but I gotta find a way to start using it...

You have a knack for building axes that are outside of my normal "comfort zone", in terms of looks. The end result is always stunning. Makes me reflect and wonder what's wrong with me.

I'm not too great at conveying messages. You've got some incredible skill. I've learned to appreciate (for example) non-fender type styles.
