Nice. One single coil Pbass pickup and 2 knobs. You can definitely have more but not necessarily any better.

Your bass has quite a few things in common with my Explorer:
Both basses use a traditional body shape.
Both are partial builds, with a bought neck bolted to a self built body.
Both have a maple fretboard, one pickup, two control knobs, and an oil finish.
Distant cousins, perhaps?

Perhaps!!! you had a bit more heavy lifting on yours!!! Both are in good Dutch households as well.....just on different sides of the pond!
Only thing I’m missing is the wooden shoes. My part of West Michigan is very Dutch. My great grandfather was born on the boat over here from the Netherlands.
Wooden Shoes are a thing of the past. I don't think I've ever had Wooden Shoes on my feet.

Agreed. We have a tulip festival about 30 minutes from here and they have Klompen dancers in the parade. I'm a bit more interested in Hagelslag myeself ;-)
stroopwafels. I would stuff them into my face forever. Someone has to physically take them away from me
Learn to make them. Less complicated than building a bass. I know I should.
When I was a kid, our neighbour across the street was a Dutch fellow in his nineties. He must have been born in the 1890s or so. I remember asking him about the wooden shoes he had nailed up over his garage door. There was a bit of a language barrier, but he made it pretty clear that he was not ever going to wear wooden shoes again unless he had to.
Crate top instruments are super cool, and yours is no exception. It's going to look even better down the road once the neck darkens up and the hardware looks more relic'd.
