OK, I couldn't resist the name once I thought of it for this Starcaster clone. Named for Game Of Thrones character Jon Snow, one of the show's ultimate killers. It's the upper of the two sets here:

Flamed maple top Starcaster clone, reverse scalloped strat neck, WRHB clone pickups in normal HB size, adapter rings, unsure of the electronics yet, but that's a lot of knob holes to fill - perhaps a Free-Way super switch, 2V 2T, and then Ghost Piezo blend?

The finish I'm going for is a "White Walker" ice blue burst, dyeing navy first, sanding back to almost white, then using Fiebing's Turquoise, Light Blue, and Blue for the IceBurst.

Here's the first shot at the navy blue starting coat to be sanded back:

An-duh: Was debating sanding back more, but decided to leave a bit more of the navy as a burst shadow, then dye over it, so here's my first still in progress attempt at my "ice blue burst": Hope the colors show decently well:

Got some blend lines to work on...

wasn't happy with the color blending, so sanded again with 220, lightened it up quite a bit again, then over-washed with Fiebings Turquoise first (bluer) then Angelous Turquoise further out, and did one finger's worth of dark edge with Keda Royal Blue. Rub rub rub a dub, here's where we are now:

I think it's about time to start the rub-on poly, anyone disagree? It will darken / deepen and slightly yellow / green the colors, but I think that should be ok. Might still want the center lighter though hmnmm. Watcha think?

That's a much better gradient

I think the center should be a little lighter, work the transition out a little closer to the edge of the body.

I'd use something water-based so it doesn't yellow it too much, do you have any scraps to test on?

Decided it was getting too dark again, to give it another couple of sand back with 400 grit and overwash with the lighter turquoise a couple more times...

Took me a second to realize what was being censored there. Thanks, never the less!

Ha! Yeah, I had the same thing happen here a couple of years ago. It was a discussion about engines and I mentioned possibly needing to do the opposite of advancing the timing (I used the actual term) and when I posted it came out "dufus the timing." :rollno:

I absolutely get that we don't want to be insulting it was just funny because that was the actual, correct term in that situation.

Jon Snow had a knack for survival... the number one killers in GOT were 3 women at the top followed by Gregor Clegaine and a few others on Aria's list. (she being #3). I used to have an Aria Pro II, should have taken care of it but the neck was skinny

Yeah, Arya is the Avatar of Death itself, and Brienne is probably the best traditional knight fighter, who's the 3rd? Cersei doesn't count, never got her hands dirty (neither did Sansa)...

Sansa: "Everybody loves what they're good at."
Jon: "I don't."
