It's an interesting idea. Do you mean slight bevel to remove the problem (e.g. 1/8") or bevel from top to bottom surfaces at a sharp angle? Any chance you have a photo of a beveled headstock?
I should have clarified that damage is at the bottom surface. I've been thinking about gluing in veneer at the bottom of the headstock. The crazy idea was to use "negative" of the truss rod cover at the bottom. Truss rod cover is in blue below, it covers entire width of the nut.
