That headstock and body look quite good togetherI've been thinking about my 'Stratobacker' concept a bit more, and decided I have no desire to have a bass with that particular pickup configuration.
But then...a Wickenbuck (Rick-ish + Warwick Double-Buck) might be useful.

I wish the start date would get here... I keep adding "ideas" to my mashup, to the point of I've pretty well changed everything...
It's still the original idea only harder...

I'm starting to think the LG-200 body is too cool to use for an oddball 25.5 scale bass and I have a GFS Buyout 34" neck that is just the ticket. Not sure if the scaled print is exact but it is about the same size as a Tele body I compared it to. This is just a quick test print.

Three maybe four lipstick tubes from the pickup box. Musicman bass bridge. Poplar frame and masonite Danelectro body with white tolex binding. And a few other ideas...
Except for the poplar and masonite everything else will be from parts I have on hand.
Nice! Very sleek lookingView attachment 3214974

Another cool one.I can’t take it anymore!!! I don’t have a PC or the patience to draw with anything other than a pencil. The Dano’ Del Rey!

All the kids are doing it....I’m suddenly feeling peer pressure to spill my beans too...
Patients young grasshopper
I really want to see this come into existence!

Very cool. That final 0.1 inch could be factored out by adjusting the relationship of the final fret to the heel. I'm now thinking of variations that could be done on a Bass VI theme.Proof of Concept

This is something I built last year. The body takes style cues from a Kubicki, with conventional tuners mounted at the tail end like a Kramer Duke, and a Fender-style bridge. There are small touches from a number of other instruments, like the double strap buttons, which serve as feet, Steinberger.

This is a Bass VI built on a Strat body, with a 30" 24-fret neck. By varying the number of frets, a lot of scales can be made to line up on the bridge within 1/10 of an inch:
- 25.5" - 21 frets - baseline
- 27.5" - 22 frets - close
- 28.0" - 23 frets - close
- 30.3" - 24 frets - almost perfect

Here is one of two interchangeable necks - a 25.5" guitar neck, along with bridge and tuner setup. For the purposes of the build-off, this build will get two necks, this one and a 30" Bass VI neck. This neck will serve as a template for the bass neck, so that they will be fully interchangeable.
d'ads
the strat tremolo is completely overwhelmed and doesn't really work
I should block that one and back off the springs before it fails
I also built a "Bass IV", and the tremolo on that works great
Bass IV = Bass VI - II (EADG)
Update:
This way we'll keep builds geared towards the low end
- EDIT: Minimum diameter for lowest pitch string is .095"
Unless there are objections I'll keep this rule intact for when the build off goes live
That rules out a Bass VI. A D'Addario Bass VI set is .084" to .024".

Do you have any details on that resonator bass? I've thought about that for a long time.

Very cool, you gonna do a reso-mash-up? Maybe a Gibson ripper- resonator? A rip-o-nator?Yep. Resonators are what I do...
